Lake Como.

Two days on the water. Gravedona at the north end, an afternoon at a winery in the hills above it, the lake road in the car, breakfast in Bellagio, then a swim.

Me at an iron railing on a wet lakeside promenade under heavy cloud
Gravedona, the north end of the lake. Rain on the stones, cloud down on the mountains.
Me walking along the promenade, a friend behind and the town rising up the hill
The promenade. The cloud was already lifting.
Selfie of me in a cap with a friend laughing beside me, on a winery terrace above the lake
The afternoon, up in the vineyards above the north end. A terrace, a tasting, the lake a long way down.
The four of us at a long white table under an awning, glasses of white wine in front of us
The four of us under the awning. The whites came first.
Me holding a grey and white cat at a restaurant table, the lake behind
The winery came with a cat. Not on the list; the best thing on the table.
Me standing on a rock against a cloudy sky, holding the grey and white cat up above my head
Then up on the rock above the vines with it. The cat put up with this.
Me seated on a curved stone wall above the lake at dusk
Nine in the evening on the lake wall. The light holds late here in June.
Me in sunglasses at a café table on a Bellagio square, the lake and plane trees behind
Bellagio, the next morning. Coffee on the square, the water just past the trees.
Me swimming in the lake with my arms spread, villas on the hillside behind
Then in. Lake Como in June is cold for about ten seconds.
The road along the lake. The coupe ahead, the mountains in a wall above it.
Two to a car. The passenger seat, the sunroof open, the lake towns going past.
Along the shore in the evening light, the water just past the railing.
